Is there a letter attached to Green's tax promise?

Today's JSOnline said:

In a "Webmercial" posted to his campaign Web site today, Green said that if elected governor, he wouldn't run again if he didn't lower the tax burden in Wisconsin. That includes state and local taxes, including property taxes, Green said in Sun Prairie.

Which reminded the Brawler of a vow Mark Green made when he first ran for Congress. From the 10/27/04 Green Bay Press Gazette endorsement of Green:

When Green first ran, he signed a pledge that he would limit himself to three terms, but he also added a letter that the pledge would apply only if 50 like-minded congressmen were elected. It's the kind of political maneuver that lets a candidate say one thing while campaigning but dodge living up to it.

"Say one thing while campaigning but dodge living up to it." That could be a Mark Green campaign slogan! And Patrick McIlheran might even call it "nuanced"!

Is there any issue on which Green has proven himself to be anything other than a weasel?  Stem cell research? Minimum wage? Social Security reform?  Whether he would let Scott Jensen off the hook (how long did it take him to come up with the proper answer to that one)?

Will someone ask whether there's a letter attached to this promise? And make sure he defines what it means to "lower the tax burden in Wisconsin." Hopefully we won't have to find out. But it would be good to know.

If we're really lucky, he might even say "Oh dear."
