Mark Green: "Now is the time to launch a new national mission to conquer some of the great diseases and illnesses of our time"

"Now is the time to launch a new national mission to conquer some of the great diseases and illnesses of our time," he said in a statement. "I can't think of too many better investments of taxpayer dollars than researching cures and treatments for those diseases that are robbing millions of people of their loved ones on a daily basis."

D'oh! That was from the 7/06/2000 Cap Times.  More than six years ago. Have we licked any of the "great diseases and illnesses of our time" since then? Are there any avenues of science or research Mark Green can think of that would help on this mission? 

Maybe he should hold an town hall discussion on this (without a Potemkin audience) to get some ideas of what the majority of Wisconsinites think. Maybe he should invite the "used" Jody Montgomery to find out what she really thinks!
