The Brawler apologizes for the coarse headline. But it just demonstrates the level to which Republicans have dragged the public discourse, whether in a broadcast debate or in the blogosphere.
The colorful epithet in the headline is attributable to the bride of Ol Lady Owen. The name is, bizarrely enough, repeated by Jessica McBride in a contentious back-and-forth between her and Owen. (First highlighted by Xoff.)
The argument's spark was Owen wondering aloud whether Paul Bucher's using DOJ agent Jay Balchunas' murder as a prop in an ad -- and having to retract it after the family protested -- might have any negative repercussions.
It was a question any sentient being would make -- meaning the Brawler was startled that Owen could muster it.
(His subsequent, baffling assertion that Bucher's reprehensible use of Balchunas was not as bad as a Doyle ad featuring Jody Montgomery and her diabetic daughter reassured us. Yes, Owen was still the same Ol Lady who before told us Hezbollah was getting its ass handed to it.)
The Brawler thinks Jessica McBride's -- and the Republicans' -- constant waving of the 9/11 bloody shirt caught up with them here. They were so used to using to using the dead of 9/11 to justify any action of the Bush Administration that they thought it was a no-brainer to use the death of a DOJ agent in an ad. Obviously they thought wrong.
Two things. Regardless of what one thinks of the indelicate language deployed by the Ol Lady's Ol Lady, the Brawler applauds her sticking by her assessment -- and even noting people agreed with her. We look forward to J.B. van Hollen issuing a statement saying "I take it back -- Paul Bucher really does suck."
Second, the Brawler's ability to read the future is limited. So he can't predict whether Bucher will lose in the Republican primary or the general election. All he knows is he will lose -- that's what Paul Bucher does.
But on whatever date that is the Brawler will be staying far away -- farther away than normal -- from the McBucher's residence of Merton if the McBride exchange is any indication of the looming meltdown.
Grumps has more.
UPDATE: What does the Brawler mean when he says losing is what Paul Bucher does? Milwaukee Rising lays out the numbers.
One thing about these Republicans. They are so easy to detonate.
