Charlie Sykes yesterday was on a tear about WHEDA advertising a new loan program. Didn't we learn anything from the subprime crisis, he moaned, conflating liar loans with this program. Even though actually WHEDA loans outperformed the general market loans, but one can't expect Charlie to resort to fact when there's inciting to be done.
He then went on to make a botched historical/moral argument, saying that folks who only qualify for a WHEDA loan shouldn't own a home at all. Instead they should build a nest egg and sit on the sidelines. You know, like the WW II generation. Even though the postwar housing boom was driven by massive government subsidies. But again, one can't expect Charlie to let facts stand in the way of demagoging against unwashed folks who feel entitled about owning a slice of the American dream.
The funny thing is, Charlie Sykes was crying class warfare earlier this year when the Obama Administration was talking about reducing the mortgage interest deduction for households pulling in more than $250,000. Such an action would crash the market because Chuck's neighbors would have to postpone building a new gazebo in their arbor.
But for Charlie Sykes, it's always about two Americas. His, and everyone else's.
Skyes is the same turkey who breathlessly let the Swiftboaters a forum. How this guy continues his shtick is beyond me.
