Brawler reader MJ writes in:
In the wake of the Virginia Tech shooting, I was reminded again how the NRA and its supporters have a pathological inability to shut up at times like this. There is nothing good or useful that they could say short of recanting, but they insist on making statements like the one McBride made on her web site, bemoaning the defeat of a conceal-carry law in Virginia which she suggested would have changed everything. And, of course, note the last comment (It's the media's fault, not the gun):
(Start Jessica)
"Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
How many MSM editorials will mention this rather than just going for the easy "it's the guns!" blather.
With this insightful piece of media criticism, the Brawler takes back everything he's said in the past. Clearly Jessica deserves to be teaching journalism at UW-M.
The rest of Jessica's edifying prose.
