As most of you have seen, MU professor and wingnut blogger John McAdams was all over the internets saying the real story in Jessica McBride's firing was the underhanded skullduggery of James Rowen.
Rowen, who was the first to note that Jessica McBride trivialized the death of Jasmine Owens in a hamfisted attempt at humor, at one time applied for a job that McBride, incredibly, wound up getting.
Whatever. Rowen's only crime was to cast light to something offensive Jessica said on a radio show that no one listens to. That's it. Should Rowen have disclosed that Jessica got a job for which he had applied? Debatable. In general the Brawler's inclined to agree with Pundit Nation -- the Nick and Nora Charles of the Milwaukeesphere -- and say it wasn't necessary.
Whatever. Thing is, McAdams shouldn't be the guy talking about disclosure issues given he has a closetful of dubious silences himself. Recall the great scandal of wingnut bloggers regurgitating propaganda fed to them by Wal-Mart? McAdams was one of the ones cited in that story.
From the 3/7/06 NYT:
John McAdams, a political science professor at Marquette University who runs the Marquette Warrior blog, recently posted three links about union activity in the same order as he received them from Mr. Manson. Mr. McAdams acknowledged that he worked from Wal-Mart's links and that he did not disclose his contact with Mr. Manson.
''I usually do not reveal where I get a tip or a lead on a story,'' he said, adding that journalists often do not disclose where they get ideas for stories either.
John: You didn't report out a "tip" or "lead" that Wal-Mart sent you -- you passed along readymade info from Wal-Mart that made Wal-Mart look good. That's not reporting; it's propagandizing.
Project much?
