A year ago today the Brawler nabbed his first XOff link and began his long climb to the lower echelon of second-tier Wisconsin blogs.
What better time, then, to take a long-planned extended break. Yeah, it's summer time and that means the Brawler will be spending a good chunk of time with Li'l Brawler bike riding, camping, and reading. (Li'l Brawler already is reading fluidly, apart from periodic bouts of frustration. "Why don't I know what that word is!" And then he moves on.) Perhaps long romantic walks with the fetching Missus Brawler beckon. Chilling out in some of the city's less reputable beer gardens certainly is on tap. And there is a separate project that the Brawler needs to tackle after putting it off for some time.
So don't expect much from the Brawler these coming months. This is not a retirement notice.(The Brawler is gladdened to see he managed to stir the pot a bit over the question of the fairness doctrine, as luminaries including the mighty Folkbum and the Shark recently joined in. The Brawler is also unsurprised that opponents of the fairness doctrine have failed to explain how and why the public interest -- which operators must prove they serve in order to receive an FCC license -- is served by AM radio operators that function as an arm of the RNC. That's because it's not. The Brawler is amused by claims that the fairness doctrine would violate the First Amendment when the Supreme Court has said otherwise.) The Brawler will be back. And the Brawler fully expects to post periodically over the next 90 days, when the mood and time is right.
Have a great summer. And that means you, too, Paddy.
Best wishes to you, too, Brawler.

Congratulations on a well-deserved break. Enjoy the summer with family and the good people of Milwaukee's beer gardens.
