Let's see: Gene Mueller was out last Wednesday through Tuesday (though he apparently made it into the office, just not on air). On Tuesday cut-up Jeff Wagner joked that he hoped Gene didn't get anyone else sick.
Charlie Sykes was out Monday and Tuesday to recover from the crushing schedule of covering the election.
A doctor told TMJ on Tuesday AM that if kids have fevers above 100.5, they should stay home.
Gene has the "crud," per Jagler, an illness that many people suffer through every day at work. Charlie is a wimp. The doctor's advice was common sense.
Apparently people do get sick in the world. People who work far, far harder than Sykes or Mueller. Should they be fired if they can't make it in to take care of themselves or their kids -- and their boss doesn't feel the need to give them sick days? Charlie Sykes would say yes. So would the MMAC.
(Also, do they not get sick days at WTMJ? When Gene first reported sick on Wednesday Charlie and Jagler had a good laugh over how Gene wanted to use his new sick days. I'm willing to bet, however, that he gets at least 10 a year or a generous helping of paid time off. But you wouldn't want to interrupt a half-assed joke by Sykes with reality.)
Brawler you are the best!
