The Brawler was deeply amused that Patrick McIlheran was shocked -- shocked! -- that a crowd viewing the inauguration Uihlein Hall booed George W. Bush and Dick Cheney when they appeared on the TV screen.
Yes, that would be the Patrick McIlheran who liked to call opponents of the War in Iraq the "surrender left" (a group that would include, you know, the two most recent popes).
And he smiled when Charlie Sykes bemoaned the "classlessness" of some people (out of a crowd of more than a million) booed Bush and Cheney at the inaugural ceremony.
(Now, the Brawler himself would not have booed the man. Shoot, he can't even bring himself to boo Scott Walker or David Clarke at parades. But given what GWB and Cheney have done to our country (let's start with lying us into the invasion of Iraq) ... he can understand. Shoot, Bush has been booed at baseball stadiums. Almost nobody in the country likes Bush ... and even fewer like Cheney. Booing is a surprise? Really?)
But the thing that cracked up the Brawler the most would be Sykes' claim that conservatives will "treat Barack Obama with a lot more class ... than you folks ever treated George Bush." Yes, that would be the same Charlie Sykes who called Obama, on at least two occasions, a "sniveling, snot-nosed community organizer."
Or who organized a "pro-troop" rally that doubled as a hate fest aimed at war opponents? that Who regularly demonizes the people of the "central city" (is that a euphemism) as moochers, etc. And thats' just for starters.
Responding to a caller who griped that Republicans play by Marquess of Queensbury rules while Dems fight dirty, Sykes lamented "I just don't want to be them." Without laughing.
