Paul Hair Product Ryan's"Down With Big Business" column was a laugher for many reasons, and the Brawler's not sure which hypocritical call for "down with big business" was most amusing.
Was it the fact that Paul Ryan hailed the Wall Street Journal editorial page as a model of valor when it helped contribute to fiscally disastrous supply-side policies?
Or that Paul Ryan voted for the auto bailout, causing much wailing and gnashing of teeth among angrily virginal young Republicans?
Or that Paul Ryanvoted for a Medicare drug bill that was a huge transfer of wealth from taxpayers to drug companies and incredibly irresponsible from a fiscal vantage point?
It astonishes me that a party enacting anything like the drug benefit would have the chutzpah to view itself as fiscally responsible in any sense of the term. As far as I am concerned, any Republican who voted for the Medicare drug benefit has no right to criticize anything the Democrats have done in terms of adding to the national debt.
Or that Paul Ryan is a whore for the insurance, financial services and health care industries?
Or that his party leadership cheered with financial service lobbyists to block any regulation of their industry after dragging our country into a financial meltdown? (Hey, Diana Marrero, was Paul Ryan at this confab?)
Or that Paul Ryan voted against regulation of Wall Street -- that he voted to bail out -- on the flimsiest of pretexts?
Other than that, Paul Ryan is a serious man who should be taken seriously.
