Interesting. On Tuesday Jeff Wagner said if The One did not attract 20,000 drones to the Madison rally, it would have to be considered "a flop." As reported, 26,500 people showed up inside and outside the designated rally area. How does Wagner respond to attendance exceeding his high threshold for success? By saying attendance ranged from 15,000 to 20,000 ... citing no sources for support.
Why the lie (and we would call it a lie because we have to assume Wags read the coverage)? Wags called it a "photo opp," but was he concerned the attendance reflected something more fundamental given WI has trended Democratic for some time now? Or was troubled by a poll from a Rasmussen-affiliated outfit showing Walker with a mere 4 point lead over Barrett? (For his part, Sykes was trying to figure out whether it was Rahm, Reid or the AFL-CIO that bound and gagged Feingold and dragged him to Madison. Given Sykes is a Walker supporter, it makes sense that he finds it incredible that Feingold was actually staying back to vote and, you know, do his job.)
Now the Brawler is not suggesting that Nobama's appearance is parting the seas to a Dem November. But he is suggesting that the size of the rally just might be causing some disquiet on the right. It did not fit their narrative. And Jeff Wagner's lie was the tell.
