Speaking of the budget repair bill earlier today, Republican Sen. Luther Olsen said: "This is the hardest vote I've had to take, and I'm afraid the next budget is going to be even harder."
And later we found out why, as a number that has been floating around for some time (Sykes floated it on his show last week), appears to be confirmed: Walker plans to cut state education spending by nearly $1 billion.
The Brawler's sense is this will not play very well and that rural districts in Olsen's district are going to be hit (as will the property rich districts in Alberta Darling's district). The Brawler believes that the argument that districts can offset these cuts by controlling teacher compensation is fatuous. Whether the Republican caucus will roll over for it -- no idea.
